Geologist Dr. Mark McFaddan will be at the Refuge on Friday, May 6 starting at 6:00 PM. The suggested donation for this program is $2.00.
Dr. McFaddan will present a program about the tremendous upheaval and colossal forces that formed the Purcell Trench, which connects the Purcell and Selkirk mountain ranges. Entitled “The Fault,” this program will describe how the fault slipped, and touch on glaciers, the melt down, and glacial lakes that had a a large effect on our area. The Purcell Trench is home to KNWR and, if you live in Boundary County, it is likely your home too. The evening will begin with a short walk near the Ed Barn to point out some of the features Dr. McFaddan’s presentation will cover. Dress for the weather.
