Enjoy Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge in 2018
Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge (KNWR) is a great place to enjoy the outdoors and be part of the many natural resources Boundary County has to offer. We hope to see you and your family at one or more of the events that will be held at KNWR during 2017. More detail about each event will be announced closer to the event date.

Bird Walks

Third Saturday of each month at 9 AM (except March, July, August, and December). The 2018 dates are Apr 21, May 19, Jun 16, Sep 15 , and Oct 20.

Bird Walks are led by expert birders. Come to find out what bird species and other animals are out and about at the Refuge. Gather at the Education Barn. Everyone is welcome, but children under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Bring binoculars and a field guide if you have access to them. Wear hiking shoes, dress for the weather, and expect to be out for about 2 hours. Water and sun protection are always a good idea.

We are working on several programs this year. As those programs are developed we will update this page and the calendar.

On June 9th we are planning a Photographer’s Day at the Refuge. It will last from 9:00 AM to noon. This will be a chance to get tips from professional photographers on getting the most from your nature shots. The suggested donation for this program is $10.00.
