Enjoy Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge in 2020
The Auto Tour Road is open to drive. The Refuge restrooms are currently closed.
Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge (KNWR) is a great place to enjoy the outdoors and be part of the many natural resources Boundary County has to offer. Due to current Social Distancing restrictions we have had to cancel our usual Friends programs and events until further notice.

Bird Walks ALL POSTPONED until further notice

Our bird walks are usually held the third Saturday of each month at 9 AM (except March, July, August, and December).

Bird Walks are led by expert birders. Come to find out what bird species and other animals are out and about at the Refuge. Gather at the Education Barn. Everyone is welcome, but children under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Bring binoculars and a field guide if you have access to them. Wear hiking shoes, dress for the weather, and expect to be out for about 2 hours. Water and sun protection are always a good idea.

Programs in 2020 ALL POSTPONED until further notice

When distancing restrictions are lifted we will again offer nature, photography and other programs. We will update this page and the calendar.
